The Reina Sofia School of Music leads the European project 'Digital Skills 4 Music Teachers'.

Recurso DISK

Madrid, 25 January 2024 - The Digital Skills 4 Music Teachers (DISK) project, led by the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, in partnership with Munster Technological University (Ireland), University of Tartu (Estonia) and Grupo DEX (Spain) was born after the difficulties encountered in music education during the Covid-19 health pandemic, which highlighted the urgent need for training appropriate to the context of arts education.

Thanks to funding from the European Commission through the Erasmus+ National Agency in Spain and SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education), after nine months of research involving surveys and interviews in Spain, Ireland and Estonia, and after examining existing training programmes related to key themes identified by a large and diverse group of educators, the DISK consortium has designed a training pathway around the following four thematic modules:

  • Safety and ethics for music teachers in the digital age.
  • Collaboration, teaching environment and new technologies
  • Online music pedagogy
  • Specific digital skills for music teachers

The first cycle, free of charge, will take place between March and June online and in English, and is aimed at music educators (music theory and instrument teachers, ensemble conductors, music school administrators, etc.) who wish to improve and/or recycle their skills to become better teachers and/or managers within the educational context.

Participants have the flexibility to register for any of the four available modules according to their preferences and learning needs. Each module lasts ten hours, and upon completion they will receive a certificate from the University of Tartu. Registration is open until 14 February.
