Ewelina Bielarczyk was born in 1984 in Rabka-Zdrój, Poland. She began her
musical journey studying violin at the Music Academy of Rabka before
transitioning to the viola under the guidance of Professor Maria
Brodzicka-Satora in Nowy Targ. She continued her training at the Academy
of Music in Kraków with Professors Janusz Pisarski and Aneta Dumanowska,
and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz,
Austria, in the class of Mathias Maurer.
Ewelina further refined her artistry under the mentorship of the
legendary Yuri Bashmet at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena,
Italy. Since 2007, she has studied with Professor Diemut Poppen at the
Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid. In 2009, her exceptional academic
achievements were recognized by Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain.
She has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians including
Bruno Giuranna, Kim Kashkashian, Gerard Caussé, Wolfram Christ, and
Valentin Erben. Ewelina has been distinguished in numerous competitions:
she was a finalist at the XI International Johannes Brahms Competition in
Austria, awarded the Gold Medal and First Prize at the Mieczysław Spisak
National Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza (2006), and is a laureate of
several national competitions in Poland.
During her time at the Reina Sofía School, she was a member of the
International Institute of Chamber Music of Madrid and of the Bank of
Spain’s Quartet Arriaga under the guidance of Professor Heime Müller. Her
chamber ensemble received the distinction of Most Outstanding Chamber
Group in the string quartet category for the 2009–2010 academic year,
awarded by Her Majesty Queen Sofía.
Between 2012 and 2013, she took part in the Master Music Course in
Yokohama, Japan, under the direction of Alan Gilbert. As an orchestral
musician, Ewelina has performed with the National Orchestra of Spain, the
Orchestra of the Community of Valencia (Palau de les Arts), the Symphony
Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, and the Symphony Orchestra of Malaga.
She has collaborated with esteemed conductors such as Zubin Mehta,
Bernard Haitink, Diego Matheuz, Péter Eötvös, and many others. She was
also a member of Nigel Kennedy’s Orchestra of Life and of the Mozart
Orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado.
In 2015, Ewelina won the position of Assistant Principal Viola with the
Symphony Orchestra of Madrid (Teatro Real), and in 2018 she was promoted
to Principal Viola. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Spanish
National Orchestra and is currently on leave. During this time, she has
held Principal Viola positions on contract with the Oslo Opera, the
Belgian National Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona
Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Catalonia, among others
