Soprano Maylin Cruz was born in Holguín (Cuba) in 1995. Between 2019 and 2023, she studied in the “Alfredo Kraus” Voice Chair, Ramón Areces Foundation, at the Reina Sofía School of Music, with Professor Susan Bullock CBE, among others.

She began her musical training at the age of ten at the Manuel Muñoz Cedeño Professional School of Arts, specialising in the oboe. At fifteen, she was admitted to the José María Ochoa Conservatory of Music, where she studied at intermediate level in music, specialising in voice, until graduating in 2014, achieving the highest grade. She has subsequently received masterclasses from Konrad Jarnot, Francisco Araiza and Adrian Thompson, among others.

Between 2015 and 2018, she worked as a soloist at the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theatre in Holguín (Cuba). She was a semi-finalist in the 21st Trujillo International Singing Competition (2018, Peru); winner of the Grand Prize at the 12th Rodrigo Prats National Singing Competition (2018, Cuba); finalist at the 2017 Cuba Lírica National Singing Festival; and finalist in the Musicalia National Competition of the University of the Arts (2015 and 2016, Cuba). In 2017, she was selected to perform the leading role in the Cuban zarzuela “María La O”.

As a student at the School, she has performed in the Chamber Music Series in Spain’s World Heritage Cities (Toledo, Ibiza and Úbeda) and in the 21st-Century Soloists Series. She has also been a member of the Orange Foundation Voces Tempo Trio.

She is currently a member of the Orange Foundation Voces Tempo Group.
