He was born in Novosibirsk, Russia. He began studying with Galina Turchaninova, who has trained generations of musicians, some of them at an international level.
In 1977, he obtained the Diploma at the Violinists’ Competition of Russia, in Kazan, and in 1979, the First Prize at the Wieniawsky Young Violinists’ Competition in Lublin, Poland.
In 1980, he moved to Kyiv (Ukraine) and continued his studies with Professor Olga Parkhomenko, a former student of David Oistrakh. Between 1982 and 1986, he completed his studies at the Gnesin State Institute in Moscow with Valentin Berlinsky, founder and current member of the Borodin String Quartet, and with Vladimir Spivakov, founder of the chamber orchestra “Moscow Virtuosi”.
In 1986, he began his professional career as a member of the “Moscow Virtuosi”. That same year, he won First Prize at the International Competition of the Tours Academy of Musical Art in France.
With the “Moscow Virtuosi”, he has taken part in numerous tours across countries in Asia, North and South America, and Europe, performing in the world’s finest venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Buenos Aires’ Teatro Colón, the philharmonic halls of Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt, and London’s Albert Hall, among others.
In 1990, he moved to Spain with the “Moscow Virtuosi” Orchestra, at the invitation of the Principality of Asturias. From 1994 to 2002, he held the position of concertmaster of the Seville Symphony Orchestra. In 1998, he founded the Chamber Orchestra of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, with which, as artistic director and soloist, he offers a wide-ranging repertoire from the 17th century to contemporary music.
He was also concertmaster of the National Orchestra of Spain between 2002 and 2011. He is currently Professor of Orchestral Training and Development at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
