The Reina Sofía School of Music offers different programs adapted to the different realities of the students, allowing them to take specific studies and adapted itineraries, in order to support the best talent.
The website of the Reina Sofía School of Music presents its orchestral formations: the Freixenet Orchestra (founded in 1993, with a symphonic and chamber format, which acts as an educational instrument for students and as a high-level cultural entity), the Camerata Fundación EDP (an intermediate group between orchestra and chamber music, created in 2003, with a diverse repertoire and training orientation) and the Sinfonietta of the Reina Sofía School (founded in 2011, composed with a variable staff for music of the 20th and 21st centuries, and conceived as an extension of the classroom to the stage).
These formations are led by school professors and guest teachers, and offer both practical experience for students and a high-level offer of concerts and recordings.
One of the pillars of the pedagogical model of the Reina Sofía School of Music in its artistic aspect is the formation of chamber music groups integrated by the students. This practice, essential in the artistic growth of any musician, fosters not only technical and interpretative excellence, but also values such as dialogue, shared leadership and active listening.
Chamber music, in its multiple formats and styles, promotes the artistic maturation of young musicians by offering them the opportunity to frequently take the stage—both in the school itself and in national and international auditoriums—and face the challenge of playing before the public as part of an ensemble.
In this context, constant interaction with their peers, professors and internationally renowned guest artists reinforces their learning and prepares them for a solid, versatile and deeply collaborative professional career.
During their visit to New York, students will participate in a series of social and educational activities. Leveraging 25 years of experience making the most of the transformative power of music, the School seeks to replicate its social impact initiatives in underserved communities in New York.
Next November 13 at 7:00 p.m. the Reina Sofía School of Music will star in a historic moment with its debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York, in the emblematic Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.
The School Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada, will feature the participation of violinist Renaud Capuçon as a guest soloist, along with musicians from the Youth Philharmonic of Colombia and Emirati cellist Elham Al Marzooqi. The concert will be presided over by H.M. Queen Sofía.
