BEETHOVEN, Ludwig van
Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92
III. Presto
Andrés Orozco-Estrada, guest conductor
Freixenet Symphony Orchestra of the Reina Sofía School of Music
In this rehearsal with Maestro Orozco-Estrada, they primarily work on articulations, dynamics, tempi, and rhythmic issues. The Maestro requests that the articulation be the same in all sections, as well as maintaining the original articulations in violins in certain passages. They work on the appoggiatura both before the beat and in anticipation, ultimately choosing the first option, on the beat. At the beginning, the tempo has to be much more virtuosic, while in the Trio it is meno Presto. There needs to be much more contrast between dynamics when the piano subito appears. Arriving at the ff, the anacrusis must connect with everything else, without slowing down the music, letting it maintain its inertia. Orozco-Estrada makes some changes to the bowing in the violins to make them more efficient and not lose the tempo. In addition, he indicates that the chords should always be played arpeggiated, especially those of open strings.
