Antoine Tamestit: Bax – Viola Sonata GP 251 – III. Molto lento

Course
2016-17

BAX, Sir Arnold

Sonata for Viola and Piano GP 251

III. Molto lento

Antoine Tamestit, guest professor

Xiaoti Guo, student

Juan Barahona, accompanying pianist

In this class, Professor Tamestit begins by correcting the tempo at which the student enters at the beginning of the movement. In addition, he makes some general recommendations: the vibrato must coincide with the pressure and speed of the bow. It is important to adapt these elements according to the speed.
He also points out that it is advisable to let the strings resonate. If the sound does not come out, it is because there is no relaxation. The correct posture will help us to relax and use less energy when playing.
