BEETHOVEN, Ludwig van
Concerto for Piano, Violin, Cello and Orchestra in C major, Op. 56 “Triple Concerto” (soloist part)
III. Rondo alla Polacca
Ferenc Rados, guest professor
Trío Flamel
Carole Petitdemange, violin
Pablo Ferrández Castro, cello
David Kadouch, piano
Professor Rados stops the students’ performance to comment that he has not understood a certain part in reference to the texture (it is a melody with ostinato in the background), the phrasing, and the articulation.
He then points out a large hemiola of 2 bars that should therefore not be interpreted as “2 times 3”, but “3 times 2”. He also makes comments on the structure (introduction part), the spiccato articulation in a certain passage of the cello, and above all focuses on the phrasing and the bowings.
The professor also answers several questions posed by the students, and shows and explains it by playing and singing.
