After the student performs the Adagio and part of the Allegro, Professor Helmerson stops him to indicate that he should play the subito forte with greater intensity (not like Haydn or Mozart). Starting again from the Adagio, Helmerson asks him to think in terms of colours rather than dynamics. He must pay attention to the piano’s harmonic changes and respond to them, without timidity.
