MOZART, Wolfgang Amadeus
Concerto for oboe and orchestra in C major K 314 (reduction for oboe and piano)
III. Allegro
Ingo Goritzki, guest professor
Francisco Almazán Alhambra, student
Vadim Gladkov, accompanying pianist
The professor stops the student at the beginning of his interpretation of the theme of this Allegro, to talk to him about the text of the Mozart aria on which this theme is based. This text indicates which phrasing to use, as well as the correct duration of the notes. Later, Goritzki makes dynamic indications, and talks about the variations in the agogics of this movement over time, taking into account the technical evolutions of the instruments (for the flute it is Allegro but for the oboe it is Allegretto).
They continue reviewing issues related to vibrato, phrasing and articulations. The ornaments should not change the structure of the theme and, therefore, the trill must be played quickly and small, taking a little time just before. They work on the execution of the trills in detail and he advises him to practice them separately and also to play without performing them to become aware that they should not produce structural changes.
Later on, the professor continues to make indications mainly on articulations to be corrected, phrasings, dynamics, realization of brief improvisations and on modifications in the character of the work and small alterations in the tempo depending on the harmonies that are being produced.
