Janne Saksala: Stravinsky – Pulcinella – VII. Vivo

Course
2018-19

STRAVINSKY, Igor

Pulcinella (double bass part)

VII. Vivo

Janne Saksala, guest professor

David Tinoco Cacho, student

Professor Saksala corrects some articulation issues of this orchestral passage on the fly. At the end of the performance, he talks about the most appropriate tempo and suggests that the student use small bows to achieve a clearer articulation. Afterwards, they discuss a sentence in the score that indicates “at the heel” and Saksala shows the student how to play it and the most convenient bow stroke for it.

To conclude, he emphasizes the duration of some notes and the articulation.
