Leigh Melrose: Rossini – Sigismondo – “Oggetto Amabile”

Course
2017-18

ROSSINI, Gioachino

Sigismondo

“Oggetto amabile”

Leigh Melrose, guest professor

Raquel Del Pino Herranz, student

Madalit Lamazares, accompanying pianist

This Cavatina primarily addresses issues of breathing and phrasing. Professor Melrose also provides some dynamic indications regarding pronunciation, expressiveness, and representation of the libretto text. It is necessary to maintain energy and breathing as much as possible for it to flow.

Next, they work on the characterization of the character, and the professor corrects the emission of air at the entrance. Before the climax of the Cavatina, the professor suggests taking more time to breathe more and prepare the moment better to achieve giving it all the energy it needs.
