Course
2014-15

BRAHMS, Johannes

Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, Op. 77 (reduction for violin and piano)

I. Allegro non troppo

Lorin Maazel, guest professor

Sara Alicia López Ibarra, student

Alina Artemyeva, accompanying pianist

In this master class, Professor Maazel explains that it is better to use more pressure on the bow to achieve good sound quality. In addition, Maazel advises on specific fingerings. In a passage in detaché-marcato, it is recommended to use the entire bow.
Regarding the preparation for the entrance to the 2nd theme, they work on more specific bow attacks (need for more speed and precision).
