Mikhail Voskresensky: Ravel – Sonatine for piano – I. Modéré

Course
2011-12

RAVEL, Maurice

Sonatina for piano

I. Modéré (doux et expressif)

Mikhail Voskresensky, guest professor

Juan Pérez Floristán, student

For this first movement of Ravel’s Sonatina, Professor Voskresensky advises repetition. The first theme has been very good but should be more balanced; it has a very sad character.
The professor also makes some comments regarding the need for changes in the sound depending on the harmonic changes, not to exaggerate the accelerando, the use of the half-pedal and other indications on its use, when to make a certain rallentando, and other agogic indications.
