SAINT-SAËNS, Camille
Sonata for bassoon and piano in G major, Op. 168
II. Allegro scherzando
Mor Biron, visiting professor
Javier Sanz Pascual, student
Juan Barahona, accompanying pianist
After the complete performance of the 2nd movement, the professor begins by correcting the articulation. In addition, the character should be more “risoluto,” and the quavers should have more sound. Biron demonstrates this by playing, and then comments that one must adapt to the acoustics of each venue where one performs. He continues reviewing the piece, making suggestions regarding sound, phrasing, articulation, agogics, dynamics, etc. He must feel the music within himself and let it flow.
