Course
2019-20

TCHAIKOVSKY, Pyotr Ilyich

Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 “Pathétique”

IV. Adagio lamentoso

Pablo González, guest conductor

Freixenet Symphony Orchestra of the Reina Sofía School of Music

In this dress rehearsal, Maestro Pablo González discusses the attitude one must have when facing a concert and how to prepare for that moment. He makes some corrections to rhythm and dynamics and insists on some problematic points. The ritardando has to be more exaggerated, more “pathetic”. Returning to the beginning of the movement, the violins have to avoid breaking the phrasing; it has to be longer, emphasizing the first note. There are also some indications for brass and woodwinds.
