Pascal Moraguès: Brahms – Clarinet sonata op 120/2 – III. Andante con moto

Course
2020-21

BRAHMS, Johannes

Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 120 No. 2

III. Andante con moto

Pascal Moraguès, professor

Pablo Tirado Villaescusa, student

Patricia Araúzo Rodríguez, accompanying pianist

Moraguès begins with a small correction regarding the tuning of the 1st note. Later, he makes some breathing suggestions to obtain the appropriate phrasing. The tempo is very good, but he misses more form and internal connection between the phrases that show the dance character of the melody.
He continues making corrections to the tuning of certain notes; the attack must be carried out with more confidence, and at a certain point, he recommends changing the color of the sound to make it more vocal.
Later, Pascal Moraguès makes suggestions on the phrasing and insists on expressing more of that ternary dance character.
