In the 2nd part of this masterclass, the quartet continues to work on the passages by voices under Schmidt’s guidelines. The professor gives indications on tempo and rhythm, articulation and anacrusis, etc. He also emphasizes the importance of analyzing and feeling the harmonies being played in order to obtain the sound and character most appropriate to them.
Rainer Schmidt makes further comments to the quartet about the work, always considering how to reflect the composer’s intentions when playing. They reflect on the phrasing and bows for a certain passage, and the professor corrects the rhythm at a certain moment to improve the metric precision of the quiet passage before the end.
