Ramón Ortega: Couperin – Concert royal no. 1 in G major (oboe version) – II. Allemande

Course
2024-25

COUPERIN, François

Concert Royal No. 1 for violin, flute, oboe, viola da gamba, and bassoon in G major (version for oboe and basso continuo)

II. Allemande. Légèrement

Ramón Ortega Quero, professor

Manuela Candela Muñoz, oboe

Candela Pérez González, bassoon

Alina Artemyeva, harpsichord

For the Allemande, the professor highlights the elegance of the chosen tempo but suggests greater clarity in articulation and phrasing. The first beats do not need to be emphasized as much as the third beats, toward the end of the phrase. He also asks for more energy and openness at the beginning to achieve the joyful and positive dance character of the Allemande—more light. There is a more lyrical and cantabile section followed by a return to the dance-like character, which he advises highlighting further. For certain trills, the professor also proposes creating more tension just before the release to make it sound more French and elegant.
