The Santander Music and Academy Encounter brings together leading international music masters with the promising talents of tomorrow. The artistic directors of the Encounter, Márta Gulyás and Luis Fernando Pérez, select each of the participants through open auditions among students from the most prestigious schools in Europe.

In Santander, around sixty of these young people work in the mornings with teachers in masterclasses and rehearsals. The result of the work in the classrooms is then transferred to a series of concerts where teachers and students share the stage. The concert programme takes place in the Argenta and Pereda halls of the Festival Palace, in the Magdalena Palace, as well as in various venues distributed across some twenty locations in Cantabria.
