EDP Green Stage is an initiative by the EDP Foundation and the Reina Sofía School of Music that seeks to support performing arts projects that creatively and originally address themes related to raising awareness about the environmental problems facing our society.
PROGRAM
The event will open with a piano recital by Shinyoung Lee, a piano student at the Reina Sofía School of Music, who will offer a sound journey through nature: forests, flowers, birds, and rain transformed into music. This program invites us to listen to the landscape with different ears and to reconnect with the beauty of the environment we must preserve.

Whisky in Kepler: refugees in space is one of the winning projects of the first edition of EDP Green Stage. It is a Space Opera that combines dramatic narration, lyrical singing, spoken voices, and live electronics to build an immersive and contemporary stage universe. The music and text are the creation of the Ferrando Brothers, whose artistic language integrates lyrical tradition and current sound exploration, endowing the work with a unique aesthetic identity.
Through a proposal that intertwines the futuristic with the profoundly human, the piece explores humanity’s desperate search for survival in the face of Earth’s imminent collapse, proposing the colonization of a new planet as a last hope.
In this context, the work offers a critical reflection on the concept of “refuge” transposed to space: not only as a physical escape, but as an emotional, cultural, and identity displacement. The characters face extreme decisions that challenge their values, their bonds, and their very notion of humanity. Thus, the narrative moves between the epic and the intimate, generating a highly intense audiovisual experience that directly engages the viewer with fully current issues such as the climate crisis, forced migration, and the redefinition of our collective future.
The cast includes:
* Spacewoman, performed by Aída Briceño (soprano).
* Keplerian, performed by Jorge Ferrando (tenor).
* King of the Universe, performed by Antoin Herrera-López Kessel (bass-baritone).
* Live electronics, by Ignacio Ferrando.
* Stage direction by Ricardo Goñi, an expert in the Michael Chekhov acting technique.
Together, Whisky in Kepler: refugees in space is presented as a work that not only imagines possible futures but also profoundly questions the present.
Following the performance, a discussion will be held with the Ferrando Brothers to talk about the work and its context.
