The School’s longest-running series presents its 35th edition. Produced in collaboration with Radio Clásica, which broadcasts all concerts live, Solistas del Siglo XXI offers an accessible and distinctive format, with programs that invite audiences to discover an unusual repertoire of different styles, eras, and instruments.
During the concert, Radio Clásica specialists will provide an introduction to the works, and additionally, at the end, the audience will be offered a post-performance meeting with the musicians on stage, where they can converse and share the experience they have lived.
In the first concert of the autumn series, “The Voice from the Body’s Depths,” cellists Luis Aracama and Yiqi Chen will offer a recital with works by Brahms, Kreisler, and Martinů.
Although Brahms never wrote the cello concerto that some of his closest interpreters requested, the instrument occupies a privileged place in his chamber and orchestral music. Separated by more than two decades in their composition, his two Sonatas reflect two ways of channeling his musical thought and understanding of tradition.
The works by Fritz Kreisler and Bohuslav Martinů introduce another perspective: the transformation of music originally conceived for other voices or contexts. Kreisler’s Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen, originally written for violin, recover the universe of the Vienna of his musical memory; while the Bohemian composer reinvents the aria from La Cenerentola in four variations that fragment, displace, and transform it.
This concert will be streamed live on the School’s YouTube channel.
