Madrid, April 23, 2020.- The Reina Sofía School of Music will have, from the next academic year 2020-2021, the Mexican tenor Francisco Araiza at the head of the “Alfredo Kraus” Singing Chair Fundación Ramón Areces. Araiza thus joins the prestigious list of artists who have directed this chair: Alfredo Kraus, Teresa Berganza, Tom Krause and Ryland Davies.
The “Alfredo Kraus” Singing Chair Fundación Ramón Areces was created in the academic year 1994-1995. Throughout these years, 96 students of 18 nationalities have trained in it. Among them are prominent artists such as Celso Albelo, Aquiles Machado, Iwona Sobotka, Ismael Jordi, Ana Lucrecia García, Maria Espada, Davinia Rodríguez or Tatiana Melnychenko, among others.
