Named after the Erinyes (also known as the Furies) from Greek tragedy The Oresteia by Aeschylus, and with roots in Estonia, Lithuania, Greece, the United States, and Finland, the Erinys Quartet was founded in 2018 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where they worked closely with cellist Marko Ylönen. Since autumn 2023, Erinys has been the Nina von Maltzahn String Quartet-in-Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia (USA).

The Erinys Quartet has toured throughout Finland, the rest of Europe, and the United States. They have performed at festivals and concert series such as the Korsholm Music Festival (Finland), the Indiana University Summer Music Series (USA), the Mimir Chamber Music Festival (USA), and the Groba Festival (Spain). They also participated in the inaugural Dover Quartet Workshop at the Curtis Institute of Music, as well as the Professional String Quartet Seminar with the Pacifica Quartet and Atar Arad (Cleveland Quartet) at Indiana University.

At the 2023 Bad Tölz International String Quartet Competition, they were awarded the Audience Prize of the City of Bad Tölz, as well as the Esterházy Foundation Special Prize for the best performance of a Haydn string quartet.

Since 2021, the Erinys Quartet has been supported by Le Dimore del Quartetto, where it is also part of the MERITA platform, funded by the European Union.

In the 24-25 season, the Erinys Quartet will perform worldwide, including the United States, Spain, Austria, Denmark, and Finland, as well as making their debut with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. They will also give concerts across North America as part of Curtis on Tour, performing with pianist Michelle Cann.

In addition to their studies at Curtis with the Dover Quartet, Erinys studies at the International Institute of Chamber Music of Madrid at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, with Professor Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet).
