This ensemble was founded at the Reina Sofía School of Music in 2013. Malibrán Trio currently studies with Márta Gulyás, professor in the Piano Ensembles Department, and all of its members are students of the School in their respective instrument chairs. In 2018, it received from Her Majesty Queen Sofía the award for the most outstanding chamber music group, in the piano ensembles category.
It also won First Prize in the 16th Ecoparque Trasmiera Chamber Music Competition in Arnuero (Cantabria), which led to a performance in the Centro Botín’s Series “Creating Futures” in Santander in February 2019. It also took part in the Juan March Foundation’s Series “Young Performers” in Madrid and performed at the National Auditorium of Music—as part of the Series “The Rising Generation”—and at the Royal Mint, both in Madrid, as well as at the Museum of Almería.
