The Scarlatti Quintet of Casa de la Moneda was formed at the Reina Sofía School of Music in 1996. All its members are students of the School in their respective instrument chairs. Currently, the quintet studies in the Wind Chamber Music Department, under the tutelage of Professor Francisco Alonso.
In its various formations, the quintet has participated in chamber music masterclasses with Peter Frankl, Diemut Poppen, Ralf Gothóni, and Alexander Bondurjansky. It has also performed at the Petit Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Casa de la Moneda Auditorium, and Casa de Cantabria, among other venues. Additionally, it has performed in the BBVA Spring Concerts at the Palacio Marqués de Salamanca, in the Chamber Music Series in Spain’s World Heritage Cities at the Sinagoga del Tránsito in Toledo, and at the Sony Auditorium in Madrid, as part of the Soloists of the 21st Century, Da Camera, and Preludio series, as well as at the Professional Music Conservatory of Osuna.
Its current members are Miguel Flores (flute), Lucía Talavera (oboe), María Castillo (clarinet), Héctor Teja (bassoon), and Alba Abalo (horn).
