Introduction: sound and violin types. Then prof. Maazel talks about the sound quality at the beginning of the piece; the vibrato has to be more expressive and coming from the arm. Afterwards there are indications about tempo and corrections in bow weight distribution: more quantity, more air. About tuning: it is necessary to listen to the orchestra part as a reference.

Also prof. Maazel gives some indications about pizzicato: finger vibration to achieve a great quality sound. Referring to the mute: in high registers, place the mute on the opposite side of the bridge to get a good sound; on d string, change the place to the other side.
