The Albéniz Foundation is a non-profit private institution created in 1987 by Paloma O’Shea, whose main program is the Reina Sofía School of Music, which opened its doors in 1991. In addition to the School, the Foundation has promoted the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition since 1972, and the Santander Music and Academy Encounter since 2001. The Reina Sofía School of Music is the main program of the Albéniz Foundation, a non-profit cultural foundation. It was founded in 1991 as a social project to help young people and musical culture. Since then, the School has worked to advance two objectives: to support the most talented young people in their personal and artistic development and to bring the best music to all audiences. Each year, around 150 students from more than 30 countries train at the School.
