Details about the position
The Reina Sofía School of Music is opening a call for applications for the position of collaborative pianist for the Trumpet Chair. The Chair’s collaborative pianist’s activity is coordinated and combined with the teaching duties of the principal trumpet professor, Reinhold Friedrich, his assistant professor, Manuel Blanco, and the Chair’s other pianist. These duties focus not only on providing musical support in the principal professor’s classes, but also on teaching instrumental repertoire with piano accompaniment, in any of the official programmes (Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Education in Music, Master’s Degree in Musical Performance) or non-official programmes (Performance Diploma, pre-degree or pre-master’s courses).
Job Requirements
For the 2026–27 academic year, the Trumpet Chair comprises 5 students. The responsibilities of the collaborative pianist include, mainly:
• Approximately 135 teaching hours per academic year.
• Providing one hour per week of individual joint work with each student of the Chair, for each academic year.
• Be fully available during the main professor’s visiting periods for the academic year between September and June.
• Be fully available during the visiting periods of international artists for masterclasses (1 or 2 days per visit, dates to be determined each academic year).
• Being available to accompany the Chair’s students in teaching concerts (one concert per term) in the School’s SONY Auditorium, if necessary.
• Accompanying the Chair’s students in their end-of-degree recitals or end-of-master’s concerts, if any, during the period from May to June.
• Availability to attend concerts and activities outside of teaching hours, both within and outside the School’s premises.
• Accompany candidates in the Chair’s annual auditions (in-person), usually on a date to be determined in March.
• Foster each student’s self-critical sense and initiative in individual and personalized study, based on a detailed analysis of the score.
• Provide assistance and guidance to students in the appropriate stylistic and sonic conception of each work.
• Provide musical support at the piano for the main professor’s artistic and technical guidance.
• Participate in the Chair’s faculty meetings (one quarterly meeting).
• Submit constructive written assessments and evaluations of students’ educational progress (quarterly).
• Submit grades in accordance with the requirements of the teaching guides and proposals of the relevant study program (annually).
• Be qualified to sign official grading records (annually).
Main functions
• Qualifications: Spanish Higher Degree / Bachelor’s Degree in Performance, or equivalent qualification recognised in Spain.
• Languages: Intermediate level of spoken and written English and Spanish.
• Experience: Experience as a collaborative pianist and prior knowledge of the specific trumpet repertoire will be valued: concertos, sonatas, virtuoso repertoire and chamber music.
PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION:
• Contract type: The services will be provided on a self-employed basis.
• Remuneration: €45.00 gross per hour.

• Location: Fundación Albéniz headquarters, Calle Requena 1, 28013 Madrid.
• Interviews and auditions: September 9, 2026.
• Start date: immediate, following interview and audition.
