The Reina Sofía School of Music was founded in 1991 as a project to help youth and musical culture. Since then, the School has worked to advance two objectives: to support the most talented young people in their personal and artistic development; and to bring the best music to all audiences.
The transformative power of music gives a social impact to these two objectives. Music eliminates barriers and treats everyone equally, regardless of language, tradition or culture. The practice of music unites through values such as commitment, perseverance, leadership and collaboration, which are essential for life and coexistence.
The greater the creativity and quality with which a music is composed and performed, the more intense its emotional effect on the listener will be; and the greater its beneficial impact on society will therefore be. For all these reasons, the Reina Sofía School has tenaciously maintained these pedagogical principles from day one, as a way to ensure the maximum development of its students and the greatest impact on society.
The Reina Sofía School of Music is committed to the musician’s holistic education, in which artistic excellence is accompanied by the development of a critical, autonomous professional identity committed to society. Through work towards and achievement of the competencies, skills, and mastery of the content across the different modules of the academic programme, the School fosters spaces for experimentation, critical thought, and critical action for a new generation of musicians.
The Reina Sofía School of Music is opening a call to expand its team of specialist lecturers in the modules that form part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Education in Music: Aesthetics and Philosophy of Music, 3 ECTS.
The Aesthetics and Philosophy of Music module has an annual teaching load of 36 class hours. The number of students in each module varies each academic year, but is usually between seven and fifteen.
