Tarek Al Shubbak has been Head of Studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music since 2021. A pianist by training, his career combines performance, higher education teaching, and cultural management, with a trajectory especially linked to the United Kingdom.
After training in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and continuing his studies at Trinity Laban (London), he has developed an artistic activity focused on chamber music and vocal repertoire. In parallel, he has built a very solid institutional profile in the field of music management: for nearly twenty years he worked at Wigmore Hall, one of the great European references for chamber music, where he served as Head of Operations, leading the daily operations and technical coordination of artistic activity, in direct collaboration with leading international performers, promoters, agents, and the specialized press.
In the academic field, he has taught at Trinity Laban in piano repertoire, performing practice, and chamber music, in addition to preparing lectures and supervising master’s theses; and has collaborated as an accompanying pianist at the Royal College of Music and the Casa dei Mezzo Festival in Crete. From the Reina Sofía School, his work is oriented towards accompanying students with rigor and closeness, ensuring a demanding training framework aligned with the professional reality of the musician.
