The Advanced Artist Diploma is a proprietary, highly specialized program designed for performers seeking to consolidate an exceptional level of instrumental practice within a demanding, intensive training environment focused on professional artistic performance.
Inspired by the educational philosophy of the Reina Sofía School of Music —which promotes excellence, collaborative practice, and comprehensive dedication to the musical phenomenon— this diploma responds to the need to offer a training alternative that complements and enhances the trajectory of performers who wish to deepen their development beyond formal undergraduate or master’s-level study.
The Advanced Artist Diploma is designed for musicians who have completed higher education studies (undergraduate or master’s level) and who seek to:
Unlike official programs organized around ECTS credits, this proprietary diploma is structured into modules focused on instrumental practice and artistic commitment, while maintaining the rigorous time requirements and level of creative immersion that characterize the most advanced performance studies.
The program is organized on a modular basis and allows students to complete a full first year, obtaining the corresponding academic certification for the program, or to continue with a second year of advanced refinement within the same training pathway.
Each academic year comprises a non-credit-bearing workload equivalent to 60 ECTS, structured through the combination of a compulsory core curriculum and a guided selection of artistic projects and elective modules.
This combination is not free or open in nature; rather, it is defined within the diploma’s academic offer and established in accordance with each student’s profile, specialization, and training needs, until the planned course workload has been completed.
In this way, the program combines a common and verifiable structure with a degree of individualization aligned with the School’s educational philosophy and with the demands of advanced training in performance.
Year 1
A year of training focused on:
Year 2
Designed as a natural continuation of the first year, with greater interpretive demands and repertoire consolidation:
The training is organized with workloads comparable to master’s-level study, but articulated in a proprietary format that is more individualized, flexible, and centered on artistic practice, without the academic component of a traditional master’s program.
The program is aimed at performers with a high technical and artistic level, with a predominantly international profile and prior academic or professional experience (higher undergraduate studies, master’s-level studies, or other equivalent training pathways).
Selection is carried out through an individual audition process focused on assessing each candidate’s artistic potential, interpretive projection, and motivation.
The School understands that advanced performance training requires an ongoing commitment to collective processes. For this reason, participation in scheduled artistic projects is a compulsory element of the training process, and each student is expected to contribute actively both in instrumental ensembles and in recitals and collaborative experience.
This emphasis on full engagement responds to the institutional mission of ensuring that training is not merely nominal, but is translated into meaningful practice, professional resilience, and real competencies for the contemporary music market.
Admission to the Advanced Artist Diploma does not guarantee automatic progression to any other program at the School. Progression to official Bachelor’s or Master’s programs will take place only through the annual audition process, with candidates submitting an application through the standard procedure.
