Directed by Florent Boffard, the program consists of six periods of instruction, each structured around personalized teaching in piano and chamber music. Students will immerse themselves in a diverse repertoire, ranging from Schoenberg to contemporary compositions.
The program director will design each session based on a specific theme, composer, or musical style, adapted to meet the individual needs of the students. In addition, the director will supervise the programming and preparation of contemporary projects for the School’s Sinfonietta events.
Through this comprehensive teaching approach, students will cultivate autonomy in their creative endeavors and explore the emergence of new writing styles.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Piano is led by Professor Florent Boffard.
The Diploma in Contemporary Piano is a Study Program designed by the School as postgraduate studies, but without official recognition.
This Diploma offers an academic and artistic program specifically designed for each student, without the teaching load existing in the Official Degrees.
The audition process will be focused on identifying the specific areas to develop or consolidate, after which the Dean and the Artistic Director, in consultation with the corresponding Professor, will design the academic and artistic program for the student.
The duration of the Diploma in Contemporary Piano is 1 or 2 years. This extension will be endorsed or canceled annually based on the student’s progress and their contribution to the artistic life of the School, with the decision being resolved in the faculty meeting of the 2nd quarter.
It is offered to postgraduate pianist candidates, specializing in the interpretation of repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Students are expected to participate in all orchestra projects, chamber groups and any other activity programmed by the School for their benefit. Absence without justified permission could jeopardise their continuity at the School.
Entry into the Diploma in Contemporary Piano does not guarantee automatic progression to any other program at the School. Progression to the official Higher Title or Master’s program will only take place through the annual audition process, submitting an application in the ordinary way.
