Adolfo Núñez (Madrid, 1954) holds advanced degrees in Composition, Guitar, and Industrial Engineering. He studied with the composers Guerrero, Bernaola, G. Abril, Alís, Ferneyhough, and de Pablo and obtained an M.A. at the CCRMA (Stanford, USA) with J. Chowning and L. Smith, with a grant from the Joint Committee (Fulbright program). He is coordinator of the LIEM of the INAEM (Madrid). His work encompasses chamber, symphonic, electroacoustic, computer, image, radio, and sound installation music. He has been awarded prizes in the Polifonía (Cuenca, 1982), Gaudeamus (Holland, 1983), Paul & Hanna (Stanford, 1986), Bourges (France 1994), Musica Nova’95 (Czech Republic), Neuen Akademie Braunschweig (Germany, 1996), SGAE (2003), etc. competitions. His works have been selected by the SIMC (Copenhagen, 1996), Synthèse (Bourges), Art Sacré97 (Paris), Futura (Lyon, 1998), “SME” (Brasilia, 1997), Vidarte (Mexico), JIEM (Madrid, 2003), Multiphonies GRM-Radio France (Paris, 2006), Festival Ai-Maako (Chile), Festival Latinoamericano (Caracas), Foro de Música Contemporánea (Mexico), Monaco Electroacoustique, Mixtur, etc. He has received commissions from the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Madrid), the National Orchestra and Chorus of Spain, IMEB (Bourges), RNE (Ars Sonora), Daniel Kientzy, Sax Ensemble, the Festival de Músicas Contemporáneas de Barcelona, Musica/Realtá (Milan), the Universities of Navarra and Málaga, GRM (Paris), the Valencian Music Institute, Clásicos en Verano de la Comunidad de Madrid, ORCAM, Plural Ensemble, Grupo La Folía, Festival Mixtur, etc. He directed the LIEM (Laboratory of Musical Informatics and Electronics, of the CDMC-Ministry of Culture), is a professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid, teaches courses and writes in various publications on topics of science and technologies for music. He is the author of the book “Informática y Electrónica Musical” (Ed. Paraninfo).
