Cecilia Foletti was born in Lugano, Italy, in 1945. She graduated in Romance Philology from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), where she obtained her doctorate with the publication of the critical edition of “Le sette armi spirituali” by Saint Catherine of Bologna.

Later, she moved to Brussels, where she worked as a translator for the European Economic Community, and subsequently moved to Madrid, where she attended courses in Spanish Golden Age Literature at the Complutense University.

She also translates for the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, as well as for Editorial Anaya. Interested in Italian and Spanish literature of the Baroque period, she combines this with teaching the Italian language. Currently, she is a Professor of Italian Phonetics at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
