Born in Venezuela to Venezuelan and Italian parents, Giovanni Guzzo has established himself as one of the most diverse and charismatic performers of our time. His international successes include concerts in the most prestigious halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the KKL in Lucerne, the Musikverein in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Lincoln Center in New York City. His most recent artistic collaborations include concerts with prestigious musicians such as Sir Simon Rattle (as his assistant in 2024 with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich), Ivan Fischer, Semyon Bychkov, Martha Argerich, Joshua Bell, and Maxim Vengerov.

Guzzo began his musical studies in Venezuela with the piano at the age of five and the violin at six, under the tutelage of Emil Friedman and Luis Miguel Gonzales. At the age of 12, he became the youngest violinist to win first prize in the “Juan Bautista Plaza” national violin competition in Venezuela, which led him to perform in the most prestigious halls in that country. From there, he continued his studies at the prestigious “Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía” in Madrid, and in 2002 he was offered a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music with the highest honors under the tutelage of Maurice Hasson. His interest in orchestral conducting then led him to Berlin, where he subsequently obtained his Master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Berlin University of the Arts, under the tutelage of Steven Sloane and Harry Curtis. His most recent concerts as a conductor include concerts with the Camerata Salzburg, Manchester Camerata, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Magdeburgische Philharmonie and Camerata Nordica.

Since 2021, Giovanni has been the concertmaster and artistic leader of the Camerata Salzburg.
