Born in Bornaul (Russia) in 1958, he trained at the Novosibirsk State Superior Conservatory (Russia) under Professor Zakhar Bron, where he graduated Cum Laude. In 1978, he joined the Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Orchestra as a soloist, combining this work with teaching at the Special Music School for young talents and performing as a concert performer on recital tours, solo, with orchestra or in chamber ensembles such as the Ural Trio, programmed by the renowned concert agency “Filarmonia” to tour the Soviet Union. These artistic activities have earned him several awards in various national competitions.

In 1981, he began teaching at the Novosibirsk Superior Conservatory and, between 1984 and 1995, served as general coordinator and professor in professional development courses for teachers in the Ural Region. He taught at the Music School for young talents in Ekaterinburg, and in 1984, was appointed tenured professor of the Violin Department of the Cheliábinsk State Conservatory of Music, in Russia.

In 1996, he joined the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid as Deputy Professor of the Telefónica Violin Chair, with Professor Zakhar Bron as the Head Professor. Furthermore, since 2006, he has been a professor at the Catalonia College of Music. Yuri Volguin combines his work at these two important music education centers with artistic performances in Spain, Russia, Sweden, Portugal, France, and participation in international festivals and competitions as a jury member and guest artist.

He has been awarded the Prize of the Arts, granted by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for his great pedagogical and artistic work. His experience as a teacher, supported by the professional quality of his students, finds international recognition translated into his continuous collaboration with European music education centers, in which he teaches violin: Master Classes at the Lübeck University of Music, in 1997; Summer courses at the Albéniz Foundation in Santander, between 1997 and 2001; Eduardo Ocón musical training course, in Málaga, between 2006 and 2010; Zumaya International Music Festival, in the Basque Country, in 2005; Violin interpretation course of Madrid, between 2004 and 2008; Master Classes at the Tallinn Conservatory, in Estonia, in 2005; Rencontres Musicales Internationales de Graves, in Bordeaux, between 2007 and 2010; Agora Portals International Music Course, in Mallorca, between 2009 and 2010; and Master Classes in Bielsko – Biala, in Poland, in 2010.
