María Luisa Navarro holds a Doctorate in Artistic, Literary and Cultural Studies – specializing in Musicology – from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and is a Senior Professor of Musicology from the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music of Madrid (RCSMM). She has a Master’s Degree in Musical Documentation Management (UAM) and a solid teaching career in theoretical-practical subjects of the degrees in Interpretation and Musicology, as well as in the direction of Final Degree Projects and Master’s Thesis.
She has coordinated the educational project Echoes 1.61 Ensemble, focused on the dissemination of contemporary music through pedagogical concerts. In them, she integrated her training as an actress to give life to the scenic locutions.
Her line of research focuses on Spanish Classicism and the figure of Félix Máximo López (1742–1821), first organist of the Royal Chapel. From her doctoral thesis, with cum laude mention, has emerged the monograph Félix Máximo López, Court Musician and “Extravagant Poet”, the first publication of this level dedicated to the author.
Among her most recent projects, the critical edition of the work Los locos, by F. M. López, commissioned by the CSIPM of the UAM and premiered at the National Auditorium of Madrid in 2023, with a re-staging in 2025, stands out. She has curated the exhibition Illustrious People from Madrid: Félix Máximo López, focused on the funds preserved in the Historical Library of Madrid, and has participated in the project New technologies and gamification for the improvement of bibliographic management (VIU).
Currently, she combines her research work with teaching at the International University of Valencia (VIU), in the Degree in Musicology and the Master’s Degree in Interpretation and Musical Research.
From the academic year 2025-2026, she is a professor of Organological, Historical and Acoustic Foundations of the Instrument, Research Methodology and Master’s Degree at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
