Philippe Pierlot began his flute studies with Joseph Rampal, becoming his last student. He was advised by Jean-Pierre Rampal and Alain Marion, and five years later, he entered the Paris Conservatory, where he obtained first prizes in flute and chamber music. Shortly after, he won second prize at the Barcelona International Competition. While holding the position of principal flute of the National Orchestra of France, he began his international career as a soloist and chamber musician. His eclectic repertoire ranges from Vivaldi to Gubaidulina and Claude Bolling, and his latest recording is dedicated to four concertos by Benda, CPE Bach, Hertel, and Stamitz. Philippe Pierlot teaches at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison and offers masterclasses around the world.
