Born in Madrid, Alberto Álvarez began studying piano at the age of 7 with Agustín Serrano Mata.
He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid with Pilar Bilbao, completing his studies with honors in piano and the Extraordinary End-of-Degree Award.
He perfected his studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music with the prestigious professor Galina Eguiazarova, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Interpretation.
He has also received training from Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas and master classes from Boris Berman, Begoña Uriarte, Nino Kereselidze, Daniel del Pino, Kennedy Moretti, Marta Gulyàs, Denis Lossev and Luis Fernando Pérez, among others.
He has obtained numerous awards in various national and international competitions, highlighting his First Prizes in: Veguellina de Órbigo (León), Santa Cecilia Competition (Segovia), San Sebastián International Piano Competition, Ciudad de Linares Competition “Marisa Montiel” (also prize for musicality and prize for the best interpretation of Spanish music) and “Ciutat de Carlet” Piano Competition. In addition, he has been awarded the Second Prize in the Infanta Cristina Competition (Madrid) and Ciudad de Ceuta, and Third Prize in the International Competition “Gran Klavier” (Alcalá de Henares).
As a chamber musician, he has played actively in different formations, both instrumental and vocal, where he has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of performers and repertoire.
Another important activity in Alberto’s career is his facet as a composer. In 2020 he completed a Master’s Degree in Composition for Audiovisual Media at the Katarina Gurska School in Madrid. In April 2021 he published the album “El acorde de los versos”, where he accompanies the recited poetry of Javier Callejo and Federico García Lorca on the piano.
Currently, Alberto is a professor of piano repertoire at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Aragon (CSMA). He combines this activity with composition and performance.
