Born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 1950. He completed higher violin studies at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in Russia, where he obtained his doctorate and carried out teaching duties at the conservatory. He holds the titles of Doctor of Arts and Honored Artist.
He has carried out an intense artistic activity. He has been concertmaster of the Kazakhstan Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theater of Kirov. He has also conducted the Chamber Orchestra of the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. He is currently the concertmaster of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra.
He has offered more than one hundred recitals and concerts in numerous countries such as Germany, Great Britain, the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Israel.
He has made recordings with the Sony, Philips, Melodiya labels and for Radio and Television.
Between 2001 and 2023, he was Professor of Orchestral Training and Development in the Violin Department of the Reina Sofía School of Music.
