Head of the Composition Department of the Lucena Conservatory; Creative Content Director at armoniaaplicada.com; PhD from the University of Granada. Professor of the Master’s Degree in Musical Heritage (International University of Andalusia-University of Granada-University of Oviedo) and founding member and vice president of the Society for Analysis and Musical Theory (Satmus).
The Spanish Society of Musicology awarded him the 2017 Musicology Prize for his doctoral thesis, which analyzes harmony in interdisciplinary projects in the context of Spanish cinema of the nineties. Likewise, this research obtained international recognition thanks to his stay at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers The State University of New Jersey (United States).
As a composer, he has won international awards for his soundtracks. He has worked in professional and higher conservatories and has directed several composition departments and municipal music schools. He is a member of the Music, Identities and Intertextuality research group at the University of Córdoba (PAIDI HUM-1110), as well as an advisor to the Digital Audio Research Group of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Communications at the University of Zaragoza.
Author of the book La armonía en las bandas sonoras del cine español de los noventa (Harmony in the Soundtracks of Spanish Cinema of the Nineties), nominated for the 2019 ASECAN Awards, he is currently one of the main Spanish references in the study of harmony in urban popular music and in interdisciplinary projects, for which he is required as a speaker at various national and international universities and institutions. He regularly writes in academic journals —such as Dutch Journal of Music Theory or Revista de Musicología— and has published in publishing houses of various Spanish universities —Oviedo, Salamanca or Zaragoza— as well as in international publishing houses (Routledge).
Since October 2024, he has been a professor of Composition for Audiovisual Media in the Composition Department of the Reina Sofía School of Music.
