The Frenchman Stanislas Kim currently has a varied musical career as an international soloist and winner of awards such as the First Prize at the Klaipėda Cello Competition 2023, and other important awards at the Enescu Competition in Bucharest, Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Hindemith Competition in Berlin, Lyon International Chamber Music Competition. He is also principal cellist of the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid and professor at the Escuela Superior de Música de Extremadura.
He has been invited to numerous festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Musiktage Hitzacker, Bachtage Würzburg, Grieg Festival in Bergen, Cervo Festival…, and has performed with renowned chamber music collaborators and some of the leading European orchestras.
Stanislas has received valuable advice and inspiration from David Geringas, Ferenc Rados, Philippe Muller, Leonid Gorokhov, Andrew Manze, Frans Helmerson and Jens Peter Maintz.
During his studies he received generous support from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, the German Music Foundation, the Gundlach Foundation and the Peter Fuld Foundation.
He plays an 18th-century Italian cello, on loan from a generous private benefactor.
His debut album «Postscriptum» with pianist Marie Rosa Günter, released in April 2024 on Genuin classics and featuring works by Shostakovich and other composers from St. Petersburg, was nominated for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
Since the 2024-2025 academic year, he has been an assistant professor of the Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, in the class of Professor Jens Peter Maintz.
