She was born in Berlin, Germany. She studied modern languages, music, and piano in Cologne. In 1967, she moved to Spain, where she worked as a translator, interpreter, and German teacher in Madrid until 1972.

From 1972 to 2011, she was Professor of German Applied to Singing at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid, and since 2011, she has been a Professor of German Phonetics at the Reina Sofía School of Music.

She collaborates in the preparation of all types of German works (operas, oratorios, concerts). She has frequently worked as an advisor and interpreter in the staging of operas at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid and specializes in the translation of Lieder.
