Registration is Now Open for Auditions for the 2026/2027 Academic Year at the Reina Sofía School.

Madrid, October 31, 2025.- The Reina Sofía School of Music has opened the registration period until December 17, 2025, for its selection process for all young musicians interested in taking any of the studies it offers: Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education; Master’s Degree in Musical Performance; Master’s Degree in Dramatic Composition and for Instrumental Ensemble; Preliminary Studies; Diploma in Musical Performance / Composition; Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Orchestra Conducting Studies and Postgraduate Diploma in Complementary Piano.

The selection of students is made through an open audition process in which the only selection criterion is talent. With an average admission rate of 9%, the Reina Sofía School is one of the most selective in Europe. After an initial selection among the applications received, the auditions will take place in person between February and March 2026.

The range of musical studies at the Reina Sofía School comprises 15 specialities: voice (professor: Juliane Banse); clarinet (professor: Pascal Moraguès); composition (professor: Fabián Panisello); double bass (professor: Wies de Boevé); orchestra conducting (professor: Nicolás Pasquet); bassoon (professor: Gustavo Núñez); flute (professor: Jacques Zoon); oboe (professor: Lucas Macías); piano (professors: Milana Chernyavska and Stanislav Ioudenitch); contemporary piano (professor: Florent Boffard); horn (professor: Radovan Vlatković); trumpet (professor: Reinhold Friedrich); viola (professors: Diemut Poppen and Lawrence Power); violin (professors: Zakhar Bron, Christoph Poppen and Marco Rizzi) and cello (professors: Jens Peter Maintz and Ivan Monighetti).

At the Reina Sofía School, all students enjoy free tuition, thanks to scholarships provided by patrons, and, in addition, there is a system of diverse financial aid to make it easier for students to cover all their needs during the academic year. The only payment that admitted students must make is 1,200 euros as a place reservation fee.

Each year, more than 150 students of more than 30 nationalities study at the School, considered one of the best in Europe, where they receive personalized education from leading professors of international prestige, with ten hours of individual instrument lessons per month and four with a specialized pianist. They also have the opportunity to perform in the extensive program of concerts organized annually by the School, and to participate in a rigorous program of chamber music and orchestra, including contemporary ensembles, historical interpretation and choir.
