Société Générale joins the Reina Sofía School as a patron by supporting its new Historical Performance Program

Société Générale and the Albéniz Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement that entails the patronage of the new training program on historical performance at the Reina Sofía School of Music.

Société Générale, a prominent cultural patron, has supported the practice and dissemination of classical music for more than 30 years. Supporting young talents in their careers to become professional musicians has been a cornerstone of this commitment, leading the entity to support the most prestigious musical education programs in France. This patronage now extends to Spain to promote musical education and help the great artists of tomorrow bring classical music to new audiences.

The new Société Générale Historical Performance Program seeks to expose students of the Reina Sofía School of Music to the various interpretive traditions existing from the Renaissance, through the Baroque, and up to musical Classicism, through the study of its stylistic characteristics, repertoire, the history and evolution of instruments, etc. These aspects will help students integrate knowledge and practices that until recently were exclusive to specialists, and which are increasingly necessary in today’s musical profession.

With this program, the Reina Sofía School of Music expands its academic offerings and adds value to the professional training of the more than 150 young musicians who pass through its classrooms each year and who have turned this center into an international benchmark after thirty years of continuous work in which great professional artistic careers have flourished.

The Société Générale Historical Performance Program has, as a tenured professor, Paul Goodwin, a renowned British conductor, current director of the Carmel Bach Festival of California and with a great dedication to educational projects. He is accompanied on the faculty by Lina Tur Bonet, adjunct professor of strings; Marco Testori, adjunct professor of continuo; and Daniel Espasa, adjunct professor of harpsichord.

“Société Générale has been a prominent patron of classical music for more than 30 years. Our commitment as an entity focuses on three pillars: support for young musicians, creativity and innovation, and openness and exchange with the public. It is a privilege to be able to collaborate in Spain with the prestigious Reina Sofía School of Music to offer training opportunities to the future talents of tomorrow and contribute to bringing classical music closer to all audiences,” explains Donato González, president of the Société Générale Group in Spain.
