Yova Milanova

Yova Milanova was born into a family of musicians. She began studying violin at the age of four with the innovative method of her grandfather, Trendafil Milanov, teacher of several generations of prominent Bulgarian violinists. At the age of six, she made her first tour as a soloist with an orchestra; at the age of nine, she offered her first full violin recital, and at the age of eleven, she debuted at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Shortly after, she was invited by Southern Television (England) as a soloist with the Bournemouth Sinfonietta.

She completed her musical studies with Trendafil Milanov, Stoika Milanova, André Gertler and Walter Verdehr. In 1989 she won first prize at the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona (Spain) and, in 1992, she received the Cobb Award from Michigan State University to continue her master’s studies.

With more than twenty years of experience, Yova Milanova develops an intense activity as a concert performer and teacher, applying the Milanov method. Between 2013 and 2016 she was artistic director of the Grace Notes Music Studio in Baton Rouge (Louisiana).

She has performed in numerous countries, including Bulgaria, England, Belgium, Portugal, France, Hungary, Germany, Spain, Holland, Venezuela and the United States, including several presentations at Carnegie Hall in New York.

She is currently the founder and director of the Milanov Music Academy, with locations in Madrid and Catania (Italy).
