Summer Camp for Young Artists is a bilingual program based on the pedagogical principles of the Reina Sofía School of Music:

Online information sessions

In the 2025 edition, Summer Camp Young Artists welcomed 219 participants from more than 36 countries, including Spain, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom, the United States, Portugal, Qatar, Mexico, Australia, and many others, reflecting its international reach and cultural diversity.

Individual Lessons

Individual lessons are designed to foster an intense teacher-student relationship through rigorous monitoring of their needs and expectations.

In addition, participants in the Young Artists Summer Camp will have collective master classes taught by great pedagogues and artists, many of whom are professors at the Reina Sofía School of Music. The classes will be offered to active and listening students in 90-minute sessions, and participants may attend master classes for other instruments.

Chamber Music

Ensemble music practice is one of the cornerstones of the School’s pedagogy, understood as a highly relevant specialty as it contributes to their artistic development and maturation.

In this subject, participants will work on active listening, transversal leadership, and teamwork, qualities that will be useful not only in the musical field but also in their individual growth.

Each participant will be assigned to a chamber group and will receive the score before the start of the program so that they can study it in advance.

Cross-cutting Workshops

The transversal subjects of the Young Artists Summer Camp are designed to develop tools for self-knowledge, self-management, and critical development, as they play a fundamental role in both musical training and the personal development of students.

  • Building an Artist: sessions dedicated to fostering personal and artistic development, with particular emphasis on emotional health, self-discovery, and confidence.
  • Listening to Music: a block focused on promoting active listening and critical thinking through activities dedicated to learning about the repertoire and recognizing elements of musical language.
  • Body Technique: in musical performance, the body plays a key role. These sessions will be aimed at developing body awareness and learning exercises to take care of our body before, during, and after instrumental practice.
  • Choir workshop and percussion workshop: exclusively for students aged 8 to 12 years.

 

With these modules, the camp offers a complete and holistic education, helping young musicians grow both artistically and personally.

Other Activities

Summer Camp Young Artists is an international program in which young people from all over the world come together to share their passion for music.

Creating friendships, respecting rest times, and caring for the well-being of the participants are priorities of Summer Camp Young Artists. Therefore, we offer a variety of complementary activities that enrich their experience:

  • Cultural outings. Participants will visit the main cultural centers of Madrid.
  • Leisure time in the residence facilities. After classes, participants can relax in the residence facilities and take advantage of the pool.
  • Evening gatherings with the counselors. Participants will be accompanied by our team of counselors throughout their stay. Those who choose the full campus option will be able to enjoy the fun activities and evening gatherings that contribute to making new friends, working as a team, and exploring their creativity.
  • Professional recording in the Sony Auditorium. This service allows students to experience recording in a professional space with excellent acoustics, ideal for taking away a unique memory of their performance. The recording includes 45 minutes of rehearsal and recording of a piece of their choice, and the entire process is supported by our technical team. This service is not included in the price.

I have learned a lot about different cultures and countries, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to live this experience and be able to take everything I have learned back to the United States.

I have had many new experiences, such as playing with an accompanying pianist, and I have been taught a better technique, a better posture so that I can have better sound and better projection. Regarding chamber music, it has been something more or less new to me since I had never had the opportunity to play as a soloist. In addition, this Summer Camp has given me friends that I will carry in my heart and who are super good musicians.

What I like most about the summer camp is, first of all, that it is a unique and precious experience, in addition to the music. I also love having the opportunity to visit the city’s monuments, which are incredible. And finally, all the teachers and staff prepared everything perfectly.

What I liked most was being able to share an environment with new people who have taught me to give the best of myself, both teachers and students. My teacher has taught me to improve my sound and that I can always give more of myself. He has taught me how I can study daily and that I have to be consistent for this to have a good result.
