The Córdoba Orchestra and the Reina Sofía School of Music Sign a Collaboration Agreement

The agreement was signed this Monday the 9th, by Mr. Juan Miguel Moreno Calderón representing the Córdoba Orchestra Consortium and by Ms. Paloma O’Shea, Founding President of the Reina Sofía School of Music, who met at the School’s facilities together with Salvador Vázquez (artistic and principal conductor of the Córdoba Orchestra), Roberto Pálmer (manager) and Óscar Colomina i Bosch (dean of the School).

The Córdoba Orchestra thus joins other musical institutions at the national and international level that will participate from the beginning in the new Conducting Chair “Zubin Mehta” (with the support of Aline Foriel-Destezet) of the Reina Sofía School.

Specifically, for this first academic year, the Córdoba Orchestra will be the only one to offer a symphonic-choral concert. The University of Córdoba (UCO) will join this first meeting with the participation of the Averroes Choir, formed by students and staff of the University itself. The concert will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, and will be conducted by the students of the “Zubin Mehta” Conducting Professorship for a predominantly university audience.

With the signing of this agreement, the Córdoba Orchestra advances in its commitment to carry out actions by and for young people, support new talents, and bring great music closer to the student community. The presence of students and faculty in these practices is possible thanks to the support of the Banco Sabadell Foundation.

For the Reina Sofía School of Music, this collaboration offers a unique opportunity for the students of its new conducting professorship, directed by maestro Nicolás Pasquet, to work with a highly prestigious professional orchestra with a brilliant career.
