Madrid, April 18, 2023.- Alfredo Pérez Fernández, co-chairman of the PITMA Group, and Paloma O’Shea, president of the Albéniz Foundation and the Reina Sofía School of Music, have signed a collaboration agreement between both entities for the group to become a sponsor of the Santander Music and Academy Encounter. This support will materialize with the sponsorship of one of the concerts that will take place in the Argenta Hall of the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria in Santander in the next edition of the Encounter (July 2023).
PITMA, a multisectoral business group of Cantabrian origin, with headquarters in Spain and Portugal, seeks with this agreement to promote its patronage in the social, cultural and educational fields and, with it, reinforces the social mission of the Albéniz Foundation and the Reina Sofía School, which are committed to supporting talented young musicians.
Since 2001, during the month of July, the Santander Music and Academy Encounter, promoted jointly by the Albéniz Foundation and the Government of Cantabria, brings together great international masters of music with young artists from all over Europe. It is the artistic director of the Encounter, maestro Péter Csaba, who chooses each of the participants through auditions held in the most prestigious schools in Europe. In Santander, around sixty selected young people study and work with the teachers in master classes and rehearsals, to later share the stage with them in a series of very special concerts, where the experience of some and the energy of others combine to produce music of extraordinary intensity. Throughout the month-long Encounter, around 50 concerts are offered in Santander and other locations in Cantabria.
The PITMA group, within its business model linked to commitment to people, sees this agreement as an opportunity to promote musical education and the international prestige and recognition of young musicians in society, supporting the development of artistic activities.
